About the Event

Sweat and Surrender is a signature workshop by Jennifer that includes the practice of Pranayama, Vinyasa and Restorative Yoga, and a balancing Yoga Nidra (a guided meditation lying down in Savasana). This 90-minute workshop is designed for advanced beginner and intermediate students with foundation yoga skills. The vinyasa flow aims to teach the coordination of movement and breath, increase joint mobility and boost circulation for detoxing. When one works to let go of physical tension in the body and allow breath/energy flow, one will truly feel union of the body, mind, and breath (spirit) and learn their true inner strength. It is through this awareness and a vigorous flow that one comes to manage the “vrittis” or chatters in the mind. Following an energetic and empowering vinyasa practice, a sweet Restorative yoga sequence will invite in calmness and a deep relaxation, which will allow the physical, mental, and energetic parts of the body to surrender. During this part of the practice, you will be held by a combination of props and feel what it means to feel “grounded” by the earth below. Gentle hands-on guidance will be provided (upon request) to facilitate a deeper relaxation response. We will end the workshop with a balancing Yoga Nidra to connect with our higher consciousness.

Meet the Teacher:

Jennifer Chang is a 500+ hour trained Yoga/Meditation teacher, Certified Polarity Therapy practitioner, and Occupational Therapist. She has been teaching since 2012, and recently relocated from Brooklyn! Jennifer believes people of all ages, fitness levels and body shapes could benefit from joining a Yoga class and with regular practice look to achieve greater flexibility, strength, balance, focus, and serenity.

Jennifer is passionate about teaching optimal alignment to facilitate breath and energy flow with precise instructions with demonstration and hands on adjustment, so beginner to advanced students can be assured of safe learning and a satisfying practice under her guidance.
